Full job description
As a Stainless-Steel Welder at LMC, you’ll fabricate, fit, and weld custom stainless-steel assemblies used in food processing, medical, and nuclear industry applications.
- Perform precision GTAW (TIG) welding on stainless steel components requiring cosmetic, sanitary, and code-quality finishes.
- Weld thin-gauge through heavy-wall stainless steel while maintaining dimensional accuracy and minimizing distortion.
- Produce welds capable of meeting visual, dye penetrant, radiographic (X-ray), and customer-specific acceptance criteria.
- Fabricate and weld vessels, piping, frames, and custom assemblies used in food processing, pharmaceutical, medical, and nuclear applications.
- Execute welds requiring consistent bead profile, penetration control, and sanitary finish standards.
What You Need
- Stainless steel TIG (GTAW) welding experience in a custom fabrication environment.
- Demonstrated ability to produce cosmetic, sanitary, and X-ray-quality welds on stainless steel.
- Experience welding equipment or components for food processing, pharmaceutical, biotech, medical, pressure vessel, or nuclear applications strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
- Strong understanding of heat management, weld distortion control, and stainless steel metallurgy.
- Experience with stainless steel finishing, blending, polishing, and achieving sanitary surface finish requirements.
- Commitment to craftsmanship, precision, and delivering customer-ready weldments that require minimal rework.
Preferred (you'll stand out if you have these):
- Current or previous ASME Section IX, AWS, or equivalent welding qualifications.
- Experience with sanitary process equipment, pharmaceutical systems, pressure vessels, or nuclear fabrication.
- Familiarity with radiographic (RT), dye penetrant (PT), or other nondestructive examination methods.
- Experience working within documented quality systems and weld procedure specifications (WPS).
- Background fabricating equipment requiring customer or regulatory inspections.
*Please Note: This role is intended for welders with significant stainless steel TIG welding experience. Candidates whose primary background is structural steel, production MIG welding, trailer fabrication, or general maintenance welding may not be the right fit for this opportunity.
